Harry Beck

A1 canvas of the london tube map, which i spent 3days working on. The whole idea was to bring to life the essence of Harry Beck (designer of the map) to a contemporary audience. My outcome is a mock up of a digital tube map ideal for tourists (2012) that would be touch screen and would make the map more relevant and more interactive, the interchange sections would light up to make, journey planning easier. The mock up i have created does actually light up, it also has a touch screen panel which i mocked up on photoshop, i just need to photograph it all together. in the mean time however, im quite happy for it to take the form of a painting homage to london, which is quitely happily hanging in my living room at uni. :-)

summer in a cup

Made these ice cubes with petals from Carnations and Sunflowers for a project about the different uses of flowers within the home, i ended up really loving this pic.

These beautiful images i took in Corfu in summer 2006. i wish now they didnt have the writing on them, but the initial idea was for them to be postcards, oh well. (excuse the spelling mistake on one of them lol)

Kanye West

Everybody knows I love Kanye but I will have to admit that the Taylor Swift thing was painful to watch, but he had a point. That being said I feel as though sometimes kanye generally acts without thinking, and his passion for what he does is usually the catalyst for this. i can definatley relate to him on this, however I'm learning that you cant always let your passion over rule you, and not every battle is one you must fight regardless.

The reactions of everyone lack a lot of understanding and although Kanye isn't a child, as an adult he can and does make mistakes, and i believe as human beings we should be less quick to judge, but more hasty in offering guidance. i believe im not the only one whom believes his actions are rarely malicious, but that is no excuse for the fact he really has a lot of growing to do in terms of learning how to reign in some of his emotions.
I will close by saying regardless of what Mr West does i believe he has the best of intentions, and i still think he is an amazing artist for single handily changing the face of hip-hop.

On one of my many walks to college, I snapped this scene. I loved the natural lines created by the pond and the grass. and then the moody sky ahhh bliss. I knew instantly it had to be in black and white, as it creates this bitterly cold, but yet perfectly still atmosphere. Who said Clapham common couldnt look beautiful.

Birth of chinxx

These are stencils I created in college of a illustrative version of myself 'chinxx'. this project was soleley based on the resurrection of album art. I was heavily influenced by kanye West's 'Graduation' album cover done by Takashi Murakami which featured a characterized college drop out bear. (Kanye's trade mark.)

ahhh this truly is the story of my life, i don't know when i became such a procrastinator (lazy) but yarr its not a good look, so hence the purpose and title of this blog, 'critter can' because i actually can i just need 2 keep telling myself that. Success will not be handed to me i do have to work for it.

I want to dedicate this post to Carl Beatson, who i believe achieved so much in such a short space of time, and who never stopped trying to achieve

Title?

p.s this is an old post that i never actually posted lol

I always forget i can just write, and not always post work.

I'm having trouble, i never know what to title my work, untitled is just not acceptable but i can never think of something appropriate that relates and that also encapsulates the feeling 'if any' behind my work.

The task was to fill a page with illustration. combined that with some lyrics from Amy Winehouse 'Do me good' and Ghetto 'Sing for me'

Rise above Disorder

took this at the rise festival in 07 the rain that day was actually ridiculous so i wanted a pic to show this because i knew no one would believe me. I later used the photograph to interpret a Layout from the much loved Disorder magazine.
